The last thing he expected was to fall in love with a woman.
Until Katrina Newman touched his face for the first time, 80's British pop star Paulie Bingham was content with his openly gay lifestyle. That he could be any other way never entered his mind. Now, with Kate tugging at his heartstrings, he begins a journey of self-discovery that will lead him through the best—and worst—times of his life.
Though her faith in him sometimes falters, Kate’s love for Paulie never ebbs despite his obsessive ways, his foray into drugs and his habitual infidelity. But will his connection to a high-profile London murder case prove more than Kate & Paulie’s tattered relationship can handle?
Unmasking Paulie Bingham Paulie Kate Book 1 edition by Anne Carter Literature Fiction eBooks
I read a lot of books, almost always either contemporary or paranormal romances--and I generally go for fairly traditional stories (within their genre). There is nothing traditional about UNMASKING PAULIE BINGHAM. The characters are totally fresh and believable, the setting is perfectly drawn, and the romance is unlike anything I've ever read. I can't get this story out of my mind, and I don't want to. Paulie Bingham is a gay rock star and Kate Newman manages to get a job doing his makeup, and here is where the story takes off in directions that kept me glued to the book. Paulie and Kate fall in love, and it's beautiful and tragic and raw, and nothing is simple or even remotely comfortable--but it's absolutely perfect. I recommend this book to any reader who wants to dive headfirst into a story that won't let them go. And when you finish UNMASKING PAULIE BINGHAM, you really need to read FOR THE LOVE OF KATRINA BINGHAM. Both books will leave you with a smile and a sense that you've just experienced something truly remarkable.Product details

Unmasking Paulie Bingham Paulie Kate Book 1 edition by Anne Carter Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I loved reading Unmasking Paulie Bingham, it was a little out of the norm when it comes to romance but I feel thats what really made this story. No relationship is perfect, everyone has their flaws and I think reading this book shows us exactly that. Kate and Paule are not your typical couple, their family and marriage is as dysfunctional as they come, maybe even more so. I enjoyed reading this story it was a nice reminder that even through all the bad, we are still able to make things work, even if they don't always go our way and even in the most craziest relationships there is still hope for something. We all have hard times and just have to learn to move on or deal with them as they come.
Paulie is a gay man always has been and always will be. That doesnt mean what he feels for his wife and daughter will ever change, nor will he. He can't hide who or what he is no matter his feelings. Only thing is although he wants a man he just cant seem to let his wife go, he still loves her and knows shes the best thing thats ever happened to him.
The author gave me this book for me to read on for a fair exchange for a review.
I had a friend who fell in love with a gay man, they married. So I wasn't adverse to reading this novel. Then I realized that the author has a 2nd book in this series due out.
I didn't know really what to expect as its a subject matter that no one hears about every day do they? The author has handled the characters in this book beautifully. The emotion ride for both of them was so evident. I could feel the vibes coming out of the page with each one I turned.
To say I liked this book is an under statement, I LOVED this book.
Don't be put off by the unusual sense of the love story as its much more than it appears.
The cover is great, the flow of writing is easy to read, my one hate was that I couldn't sit down and just read it, I resented people interupting me.
This is a true and honest account of how I feel towards this story, and the author. I would defo read more by her.
Off to start the next one is this series!
This was a great summer read! The "lifestyles of the rich and famous" setting offered a fun fantasy escape, while the characters remained relatable with their imperfections and struggles in love and life. I really enjoyed getting to know Paulie and Kate and rooted for both of them all the way. And, without giving away the ending, I especially appreciated how they negotiated their relationship as it developed. This book was more than a love story, but the main theme that sticks with me is the wonders and possibilities of unconditional love.
Not your typical romance where couple meet, conflict keeps them apart, conflict resolved, live happily ever after. Ms. Carter steps out of the box to weave an unconventional romance with complex characters and complicated lives. It begs the question if a happy ending is possible, but then again can a couple such as Paulie and Katrina have it all. I enjoy a book that challenges my thoughts and piques my curiosity to learn more on the subject. Ms. Carter was successful on both counts. On another note, I do have to blame her for the lack of sleep. Just when I thought things were somewhat coming to a resolution she threw in a plot twist. I had to keep going to see where she was taking the reader. Also, having experienced the time of glam rock, I enjoyed the memories invoked by reading the book. I look forward to the next book to find out who 'did it', but more so where all the characters end up. Will my assumptions match hers? PS - This would be a great book for group discussion.
A different kind of love story.
I had the pleasure of reading this story when it was an ARC. It has since been split into two books so I had to buy this first one because of the cover and I am so looking forward to the next one.
I must say, I am very impressed with the way Ms. Carter writes and kudos for taking on what I think is such a difficult subject matter. It's not a story you could ever imagine and you just need to read it to understand why.
It is a love story, but the love is between a gay man and a straight woman and their relationship is anything but cut and dry. Not your typical boy meets girl, fall in love, get married blah, blah, blah. There are many twists in the story and I found myself always rooting for Paulie because Ms. Carter has made him so likeable you just can't help but fall for the guy.
At the time I read this story, I remember while shopping one day and hearing Bruno Mars' song, "Just The Way You Are" and instantly thought of Paulie Bingham. When a story has the capability of pulling me in at times when I shouldn't have even been thinking about it, that's remarkable writing.
